  • adjusting to new environment

  • eating Philippines foods

  • teaching students who do not know well how to speak English

Overall Impression

It was a great experience being part of the SEA Teacher Project. The program is really of big help to a lot of future teachers aspiring to improve themselves and widen their knowledge to different teaching pedagogies like me. Experience is really the best teacher because every new people, new culture, and every mistake we encountered everyday always resulted to learning. Eventhough I experience a lot of hardships and challenges being a student teacher, I enjoyed every minute of being there in Padang, Indonesia. I experienced and learned a lot while having fun and no one can take that learning and experience away from me. I will hold into it forever and will cherish it for the rest of my life.

SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE IMPROVEMENT

  • For SEAMEO

The SEA Teacher Project is really a big help for future teachers to enhance their teaching skills and develop their communication skills with the use of the English language. So I’m really hoping for this project to continue render the same service to aspiring future teachers and to have more practice teachers from different countries in Southeast Asia to be deployed as exchange students. And I really think that 1 month is not enough for a student teacher like me to deeply study the culture and educational system of a certain country so I also suggest to make the project longer.

  • For USHS CLSU

All of the people in USHS were very welcoming, they treat me as part of their school family and they really think of me as a faculty member. It overwhelms me because I really feel like a real teacher. I am hoping that the way USHS treated me will be the same for the next SEA Teachers that will go there in the future
